McIntosh Multi-Zone A/V Control Centers

McIntosh

You only need to push a button on a remote controller or a keypad to enjoy music and video programs throughout your home with McIntosh quality and reliability. Integrating seamlessly with even non-McIntosh products, the CR16 Multi-Zone A/V System can be scaled up or down for any size installation or requirement. In fact, the CR16 could use just one set of audio and video sources to supply any number of rooms or areas in your home with true McIntosh performance.

Having introduced their first multi-zone AV Controller in 1981, McIntosh is now in their 5th generation of AV distribution devices - the CR16. Behind the trademark black glass faceplate lays an engineering marvel. The CR16 has four zones and each zone can independently select from 8-shared sources - 4 audio and 4 audio/video. Each zone has its own input selector, its own tone controls, and its own volume control.

Up to four keypads and/or sensors can be placed in a single zone, enabling control from any area. There are fixed and variable outputs, as well as balanced outputs for each zone. All video switching is matched and buffered and the outputs are also buffered for maximum quality at the user end. Connection to an A/V Control Center or Preamplifier can be done with a single cable. The RS 232 port interfaces with many popular control systems and is backward compatible with previous McIntosh keypads and sensors.

Up to six CR16s can be cascaded together, providing high performance audio and video in up to 24 zones. Quality sound and video systems need quality signals. McIntosh has spent the past 30 years learning how to get those signals where you need them - conveniently and with the performance that McIntosh has built its legend on.

This Multizone A/V Control Center is actually 4 independent zones comprising 4 McIntosh A/V preamps in one chassis. You can use a single-cable to make the connection to a McIntosh MC58 8-Channel Power Amplifier. You can use another single-cable to connect to an A/V Control Center (e.g., to link CR16 multizone system to MX134-based home theater system). A single-cable connection also allows for cascading as many as six CR16s for a total of 24 independent zones.

Enjoy 8 common (shared) sources (4 audio, 4 A/V) and 1 additional local "private" A/V source for each zone. LED status indicators visually show you system status for all 4 zones.

Programmable "wake-up" conditions can be set for each zone as well and output levels can be trimmed (set at a pre-determined maximum) for each zone.

Exclusive McIntosh tone controls for each zone, balanced outputs and unbalanced outputs for each zone, buffered video outputs for each input, and control data outputs for source components all add up to a flexible and compatible system.

Remote operation of lights, screens, and drapes with McIntosh HC1 Home Controller and Remote power controller featuring selectable control priority for limiting operation for any zone.

Each zone accommodates as many as 4 keypads or IR sensors. The RS232 control input allows your installer to use a touchscreen system remote for all functions.

Front panel reset does not affect memory settings. Gold-plated input and output jacks, a steel chassis, glass front panel with illuminated nomenclature add up to one beautiful and easy to use whole house entertainment system.
