Of all the components, the loudspeaker may seem the least complex. Yet the many trade-offs in loudspeaker design – the give and take between drivers, crossovers, and cabinet volume – call for well-informed subjectivity. McIntosh has been developing and manufacturing loudspeakers since 1970. Many of our developments have been awarded patents in recognition of their unique technology and design. The McIntosh Acoustic Engineering team is dedicated to a simple yet significant philosophy: to recreate speakers capable of reproducing music as accurately as possible, with superior imaging and with the lowest possible distortion.
XRT2K High Power Loudspeaker System
# Each speaker can handle up to 2,000 watts of power
# Tri-Wire and Tri-Amp Capability
# Massive Overload-Proof Crossover
# Total of 110 drivers in each speaker
# Each speaker houses Six 12" Aluminum Cone Woofers, Sixty-Four 2" Titanium Midranges and Forty 3/4" Titanium Tweeters
The XRT2K Loudspeaker System is the speaker that speaker engineers have always dreamed of designing and building. McIntosh engineers made the dream come true with a three-way, dual column design meticulously housing six 12" aluminum long throw woofers, sixty-four 2" titanium midrange drivers and forty 3/4" titanium tweeters. All elements are chosen for use with high power amplifiers up to 2,000 watts.
Each driver and crossover component has been carefully designed for durability, efficiency and, above all, low distortion and is the ideal size for wide-angle sound dispersion. The multiplicity of drivers means that each element sees only a tiny fraction of the total power. Dynamic compression (the varying impedance characteristic of a speaker that is heating and cooling when receiving high power) is reduced to the vanishing point with this multi-element design.
All this engineering would be wasted if cabinet resonances entered the picture, so the core of the XRT2K structure is made of extruded aluminum for maximum rigidity.
The XRT2K Loudspeaker System is available exclusively at select Authorized Premier Dealers.

That's a system total of 60 midrange drivers and fifty tweeters! This new column design, each with three parallel columns of drivers, provides unparalleled power handling capability and limits early floor and ceiling reflections while producing a symmetrical horizontal polar response for superior imaging.
In addition to its phenomenal musical capabilities, the design of the new column with a depth of less than 5-inches allows a variety of placement options including on-wall or in-wall installation as well as floor standing. The XRT29 provides separate connections for bi-amplification hookups. The Crossover Network has an input provision to ensure the best performance when the column is mounted in-wall. The versatility of this design will compliment virtually any placement or structural installation application.
XRT28 Loudspeaker System
Awarded The Absolute Sound Magazine Golden Ear Award "Best of the Best"
# Two parallel columns of 4 inch midrange drivers surround a column of 1 inch tweeters
# Symmetrical horizontal polar response produces superior imaging
# Fully shielded drivers enable use near video displays
# Three pairs of gold plated binding posts allow for biamping or tri-amping

All McIntosh Academy Series speakers must meet four criteria: first - they must sound musical and have clear, cleanly etched performance, second - they must have wide dynamic range with broad horizontal dispersion and a common voicing across the line, third - they must match the performance of McIntosh electronics by imparting no coloration of their own and, fourth - they must have both the styling and the build quality to outlast years of use.
Making these design principals happen in powered subwoofer took all of Mac's legendary engineering prowess. Despite its non-threatening size, the PS112 was created to pick up where the performance of most main speakers leaves off - deep in the bass trenches. The sounds that a low-distortion McIntosh amplifier hard wired to a custom driver can create must be felt rather than just heard. The cabinet is rock solid, thanks to the innovative bracing. A high power 12-inch long throw driver is custom matched to 400 watts of McIntosh-created power. The user has full control, with a variety of crossover and level settings and the choice of either triggered hardwire turn on or automatic music sensing turn on. The PS122 can be used alone or in conjunction with any of the other loudspeakers.
A beautiful beveled glass control panel completes the look. A number of features make system integration easy - there's a variable level control, a low frequency boost of up to 3dB at 35Hz, a low pass filter, variable from 40-120 Hz with defeat, a variable high pass filter at 40-120Hz (Subwoofer line outputs).
McIntosh HT-12 Passive Subwoofer
# 12" Subwoofer
# Passive Design
# LD/HP Technology
# High Efficiency
# Magnetically Shielded
# Frequency response: 29 - 500 Hz
Although powered home theater subwoofers are all the rage, the advantage of using a passive subwoofer is that you get to select the quality and power of the amplifier yourself. As you are probably aware, both these factors will have a profound effect on the subsequent performance of the subwoofer, so it's nice to have some say in the matter. The McIntosh HT12 is a passive subwoofer that practically begs to be hooked up to one of the company's powerful amplifiers.
This 12" design uses a high efficiency driver so that even the smallest high quality amp can drive it to room-filling sonics. McIntosh's patented LD/HP voice-coil design is used to reduce the driver's distortion while improving both its efficiency and its power handing. The driver in the HT12 can easily handle up to 400 watts.
The enclosure is designed to reduce vibration, which improves the clarity of the output. The system is shielded so it can safely be used near televisions. A built-in loudspeaker element protection device automatically resets itself in the effect it is activated.
Capable of powerful bass output across a range from 29 to 500hz, the McIntosh HT12 will provide the kind of chest pounding foundation on which a modern digital soundtrack is often built. Paired with a high quality amplifier of your choice, the HT12 is your ticket to a thundering sound experience.

Regardless of configuration, all Academy Series speakers meet four criteria: first - they must sound musical and have clear, cleanly etched performance, second - they must have wide dynamic range with broad horizontal dispersion and a common voicing across the line, third - they must match the performance of McIntosh electronics by imparting no coloration of their own and, fourth - they must have both the styling and the build quality to outlast years of use. To design an In-Wall speaker that could meet these criteria was a challenge to even legendary McIntosh.
The WS350 is a high-performance, three-way in-wall speaker with an integral sealed aluminum enclosure. The key to its performance lies in the unique deep drawn aluminum back enclosure that houses the driver array. This design minimizes sound transmission into adjoining rooms, a nice feature that you'll learn to appreciate.
