For over fifty years, McIntosh Laboratory has been building the finest high end audio components - including an amplifier in each generation designed to be "the best amplifier in the world." Now we have a new contender for the world title - the MC1201, a 1,200 watt Mono Power Amplifier.

The MC1201 amplifier is fully double balanced from input to speaker output. Two matched amplifiers with complimentary balanced circuitry operate in a PUSH-PULL configuration. Their outputs are combined in a balanced "OUTPUT AUTOFORMER". The resulting double balanced configuration cancels virtually all distortion. This circuit is ONLY possible with the exclusive "McINTOSH OUTPUT AUTOFORMER".

The AUTOFORMER provides proper matching for a 2, 4, or 8 ohm speaker, provides low distortion power transfer at frequencies well beyond the limits of human hearing, delivers peak output current in excess of 200 amperes and prevents speaker damage in the event of a failed output transistor.

All critical circuits employ precision metal film resistors and film capacitors with low absorption dielectrics. Transistors are selected for constant current gain across their entire operating range. Every stage of voltage or current amplification is designed for the best linear performance. All of the above guarantee the lowest distortion.

High power amplifiers draw high current from the AC power line. Most owners desire that there be one power switch for the whole audio system. The MC1201 is equipped with a circuit that provides remote POWER CONTROL from your McIntosh preamp or control center.
